DAREN RUBINS SET TO JOIN THE LIGHTHOUSE COMPANY AS CEO
The Lighthouse Company, the executive search and consultancy firm founded by Kathleen Saxton, has announced the appointment of Daren Rubins, CEO of PHD UK, as its new chief executive officer.
Rubins will take up his new role leading the business after the Easter break and will work alongside Saxton who will continue in her capacity as founder of both the Lighthouse and Psyched, the transformational leadership development company she co-founded with Ben McKie in 2016.
In particular, Rubins will look to expand the firm’s consultancy offering – including board advisory and leadership structures, benchmarking, succession planning and talent acquisition and retention – while at the same time continuing to support the core C-suite placements at the heart of the company’s search business.
During his 17 year career at PHD, Rubins has been instrumental in building the business’s reputation as the UK’s most forward-thinking agency. He also steered the business to a phenomenal record of account and award wins, ending 2016 being named as both Marketing Week’s and Media Week’s ‘Agency of the Year’ while at the same time picking up the Grand Prix at the Media Week Awards in October.
Speaking of his new role, Daren Rubins said, “Leaving PHD is the one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do and I’m so proud of everything that we’ve achieved. But my proudest achievement is the legacy of amazing talent, which is why this new role is so appealing to me. The Lighthouse Company is an incredible business with an outstanding reputation for progressive thinking, integrity and it’s understanding of talent, which is why I’ve jumped at the opportunity to work with Kathleen and the team.”
In addition, Kathleen Saxton said, “At the Lighthouse we are absolutely focused on matching brilliant companies with best-in-class talent and I truly believe with Daren’s appointment we have found the perfect match for the Lighthouse’s future growth. Leading the business in partnership with someone of Daren’s calibre and experience is an opportunity I am relishing, while the entire team is delighted by the prospect of working with someone who fully embodies the leadership qualities, vision and character we most value in the talent that we represent.”
Rubins will be succeeded at PHD by the agency’s current managing director, Verica Djurdjevic.
