After schooling in Surrey, I decided to fly the nest and move to Portsmouth to study Sociology and Media Studies at Portsmouth University. I was involved in the University Dance Club, which is a great passion of mine and was a great way to socialise (and attempt to get fit). University was never a plan for me, yet it was the best decision I made.
While studying, before the daunting task of a dissertation was in sight, I completed a 3 month internship at a Recruitment Agency in London as a Social Media Administrative Assistant. It was great exposure to the working world and after 3 months of hard work, I secured myself a permanent position for after I had graduated. In my final year at University I decided to write my dissertation on the representation of gender within Psychological thriller films.
After graduating and hanging up the student lifestyle I returned to London as a Trainee Recruitment Consultant. Although I was returning to a company I knew, I was taking on a brand new role. I worked very closely to my Manager and learnt first-hand how the recruitment industry works. My role was very varied; I was heavily involved in admin duties as well as working closely with my clients and candidates. My experience in Recruitment taught me that I enjoyed working in a fast pace environment where I can utilise my organisational skills.
When the opportunity to meet the Lighthouse team appeared, I jumped at it! I admire Kathleen’s hard work and dedication in building such a great reputation for The Lighthouse Company. My role as an Account Coordinator is to assist the team and the Account Directors with any support required such as diary management, research and admin duties. Since joining the Lighthouse team in February 2016 I have felt extremely welcomed and I look forward to my future with TLC.
In my spare time when I’m not online shopping, I enjoy going to the cinema and trying out new restaurants in London and Surrey with friends!
