My London journey began nearly a decade ago, when in my early twenties, the hustle and bustle of the capital immediately appealed to me. Having grown up in Australia, I was desperate to escape and see what the other side of the world had to offer – and I was not disappointed. What was originally intended to be a two year stint has since turned into London becoming my home.
After studying Exercise Science and Business (I’d always wanted to be a Physiotherapist, until I actually finished University), I entered the world of banking as Operations Assistant and EA to the Head of Operations & Client Services at Fortis Bank. Working across the areas of Operational Back Office as well as supporting the Head of Operations, the experience was pivotal, and I soon realised a fast paced environment suited me perfectly.
Following Fortis, I found myself working as Executive Assistant to the Managing Directors of the Forensic Accounting practice within Kroll Advisory Solutions. It was an exciting time of expansion within the practice and I enjoyed the pace of a consultancy firm, so when the Managing Directors decided to set up their own boutique Forensic Accounting firm and asked me to come along, it was an opportunity I really could not pass up.
So a new adventure began, along with 12 colleagues from Kroll, as Operations Manager, we set up and established Tyrian Partners. Setting up a new business from nothing was challenging and amazingly fun at the same time – we were all in it together from day 1 and I loved every minute of it. After Tyrian Partners was acquired, I led the integration into the new business, Stroz Friedberg, before deciding it was time for my next career challenge.
When I first heard about the Lighthouse Company, I was instantly intrigued with their approach to business, there was something about the company and the team that was very special and I immediately wanted to become part of it. In my role as Head of Finance & Business Operations I lead the day to day running of the operational side of business as well as handle all financial aspects for Kathleen. Being part of the fast paced, dynamic team is fantastic, and I enjoy it immensely.
Outside of work I love to travel, catching up with my friends over dinner and skiing, which is a new interest of mine, but one that definitely needs a little more practice!
