Tomorrow’s Life Choices – a specially created teen careers’ evening – was launched in June 2015 and to date has seen over 100 young people progress through the programme since its inception.
The evening is aimed at teenagers between the ages of 15 and 18 offering real world advice and tips from those most in the know within the advertising and media sector – all taking place in the comfortable surroundings of our West End offices.
We are delighted to open this evening to the children, nieces, nephews and godchildren of those we closely work with; client or candidate.
In setting up Tomorrow’s Life Choices, our aim has been to give an objective, open and honest view of how young people can best improve future employment prospects and what to embrace (and avoid) along the way. As one of our guests, the evening gives a unique perspective…
‘‘The event was so well-planned and a really fun way to get thinking about the future. The talks & all the helpful advice and tips offered were super useful and I will be using the wisdom shared with us starting now!’’
These bespoke sessions are open to up to 30 teenagers, and are hosted in a speed-dating style by some of the industries biggest, most impressive leaders. At the end of each session attendees will leave armed with top tips on the job seeking process such as researching the job; interview technique; honing a perfect CV; making the most of social media and getting your appearance just right.
We’ve been privileged to welcome career mentors from leading businesses such as Shortlist Media Group, MediaCom, Google, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook and Hearst. We have been hugely fortunate to have the likes of Mike Soutar share his interview wisdom at two of our events; his hugely respected business acumen shone through, but his appearances on The Apprentice grilling contestants added an extra ‘glamorous’ edge.
Our next event will take place on Tuesday 7th November from 6.30pm to c.8.30pm. We are delighted to welcome back very special guests in the form of Louise Richardson and Jo Daly.
Louise, marketing lead at Snapchat, was a big hit with our guests in April offering insider knowledge on how to use social media to your advantage and, of course, what to avoid at all costs. Coaching consultant and former global head trainer at Spotify, Jo will help hone in on the attendees CV skills, demonstrating the most common mistakes, while at the same time advising on how to make the CV stand out. Naturally, the Lighthouse team will also be on hand to offer insight and advice to our attendees.
To secure a space for your children, simply click on the TLC button below to access our dedicated sign up page.
Previous events have shown the attendees may feel more comfortable attending with a friend, so we’re delighted to offer a plus one for every attendee. However, this is not essential as every attendee will be very carefully looked after by the Lighthouse team.
Please note spaces will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. In the event our November evening is fully booked, we will be more than delighted to hold a space for future events.
If you have any further questions on the evening itself, please contact the organising team on email@example.com.
“I just wanted to thank you all very much for organising the careers convention… It was really informative and helpful for me during a time where I’m deciding on university courses. It was really good to be able to find out about careers that I normally would not have had any experience of or information on. I particularly found that the talk on the interview process to be interesting, it felt so relatable and relevant to me as I’m preparing for future interviews. The atmosphere in the Lighthouse was so welcoming to my friends and I and I especially enjoyed talking to the people who worked there during the convention.” Lily, aged 16
“I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and everybody at Lighthouse for hosting the Tomorrow’s Life Choices event! I really enjoyed it, met so many interesting people and learnt some really useful tips which I know will definitely help me when I am looking and interviewing for jobs. The guest speakers and the speakers from Lighthouse were equally informative, interesting and most of all extremely friendly and welcoming. I hope to come and again and experience your incredible company and thank you again,” George, aged 17
